The official release window of Hades 2 has been announced to be Q2 2024, which is perhaps a little sooner than some might have expected.

It does unfortunately come with the caveat that it is just the early access release, so we still currently have no information for when the full game is expected to be playable. It took the original game two years to launch after it made its way to early access, so it would not be surprising to be waiting until 2026 to play the completed work.

However, there is the opportunity to jump in slightly earlier with the Hades 2 Technical Test, which launches shortly before the early access release. This will only be available to a limited sample of players, but it is exciting nonetheless.

Will Hades 2 be early access first?

Hades 2 will be released in early access first, which is both good and bad news depending on where you stand. The good news is of course that we will be able to experience the game earlier, and in a sense be a part of the active development cycle as more content gets added over time.

The downside of course is that the game will not be complete, so you will still have to wait a couple of years for the full experience - or to play at all if you're on console. For a roguelike game, however, early access isn't too bad as you're expected to run through the story several times anyway.

We currently don't know too much about the gameplay for Hades 2 outside of what has been shown in the initial announcement trailer, but we can safely assume that it is more of what players loved in the first game.

If you have not played the first though, Hades was a roguelike game that challenged you to power through the depths of the underworld, moving through several levels and defeating bosses along the way. The caveat of this came in the fact that your progress was mostly reset every time you died, so you would have to truly become the best that the underworld has to offer if you wanted to complete the game.

All Hades 2 trailers so far

There is currently only one trailer available for Hades 2, and that is the announcement trailer that was shown at The Game Awards in 2022. This introduces us to our new main character - the Princess of the Underworld, and what is to expect in your dungeon-crawling adventures this time.

Do we know the Hades 2 platforms?

Currently, we only know that Hades 2 will be eventually available on both PC and console platforms, with more detailed information arriving closer to release.

However, the early access version will almost definitely only be playable on PC, so you might need to switch systems if you're dying to jump into the action.

That's everything you need to know about Hades 2 right now, but make sure to check back again soon as we'll bring you the latest updates for the game when they are announced.
