Some might say it's bad luck to disturb a slumbering God, but waking Hypnos in Hades 2 is certainly an appealing prospect.

The son of Nyx and personification of sleep is found motionless and snoring away in The Crossroads, and to many it's quite the mystery whether he ever wakes up in the game.

Does Hypnos ever wake up?

Unfortunately, Hypnos never wakes up and there is no way to raise him from his sleep - at least in the current early access version of Hades 2. Despite being there in his hammock from the moment you start your journey as Melinoë, he remains in a deep sleep no matter what you do or what milestones you unlock.

You can talk to him, salute him, and even gift him items - but none of this will stop him from getting those all-important hours (or perhaps more aptly, days) of sleep.

I did find that gifting him items like Nectar did get him to mumble a few words here and there - making me believe that raising his affinity enough would rouse him from the ever-lasting slumber. However, after activating the 'Empath's Intuition' Incantation, which shows your relationship status with various characters in the Book of Shadows, I was resigned to see that Hypnos has no entry, and thus gifting was a fruitless task.

I would be very surprised if he doesn't wake up down the line of the game's development roadmap, but it is yet to be seen what role Hypnos will play in the larger narrative - much in the same way as Mel's brother Zagreus.
