If you've always seen the term thrown around in multiplayer games but have never actually understood what it means, then we are here to help with a short explanation of what ping is in Fortnite.

Your ping measures the latency speed between your game and the server that you are playing on, with higher numbers indicating a worse connection. Ping is usually measured in milliseconds, so a ping of 20 would indicate that there is a 20ms delay between you and the server.

While raising your internet speed can help your ping to a certain degree, it is largely determined by your physical distance from the server that you are playing on. So, playing on servers outside of your own geographical region is inevitably going to give you higher ping values as your data has to travel longer distances.

An ideal ping is found somewhere in between zero and 50, but of course, the lower values are always going to be better.

So, that should be all you need to know if you were wondering how to show ping in Fortnite. For some help tracking enemies though, don't miss this guide on how to see footsteps in Fortnite.
