As we approach the final days of Fortnite Chapter 5: Season 1, a mysterious giant hand has appeared on the map, but what does it mean? Well, it's all pointing towards the upcoming season...
Fortnite fans were in for a surprise when a giant fiery fist emerged from the ground near Ruined Reels on Saturday, March 2, 2024. It's the latest in a series of teasers that give us a glimpse of what to expect when Chapter 5: Season 2 begins.
Why is there a giant hand in Fortnite?
The giant hand that's appeared on the Fortnite map is a teaser for Chapter 5: Season 2, which is heavily rumoured to have a Greek mythology theme.
The hand holds a chest which is presumed to be Pandora's Box, an iconic item in Greek mythology that the Gods filled with evil, illness, and hardship - so I can only imagine what's going to be unleashed onto the Island if it ever gets opened (which, let's face it, it probably will).
Click to enlargeEpic Games has been teasing this theme for a while now. A new NPC called Odyssey recently arrived on the Island, tasking players with collecting pieces of a mosaic. The final image depicts Cerberus, the three-headed dog from - yep, you guessed it - Greek mythology.
It's pretty clear that we're heading back to ancient Greece in Fortnite Chapter 5: Season 2, which is expected to begin around March 8, so all we can do now is wait and see what's inside Pandora's Box.
At the moment, the chains that link the giant hand to Pandora's Box have a pretty big health bar, so players around the world will need to set down their guns and come together to break it with their pickaxes.
Before that happens, there's still time to complete all of those weekly challenges and unlock every skin in the current season's Battle Pass. I just unlocked the Surfin' Bird emote and I've been insufferable ever since.
