These best Genshin Impact Childe builds talk about the weapons and artifacts that you can use on the five-star Hydro user and Bow wielder, Childe - the Eleventh Harbinger of Fatui who shares a close relationship with the Traveler and plays a major role in Genshin Impact's main story. Childe is one of the best, if not the best Hydro DPS units in Genshin Impact that players can use in the party to clear the game content with ease. With this best Genshin Impact Childe build, you'll find a complete breakdown of Childe's abilities and Constellations while sharing some of the best team comps for Childe.

Best Genshin Impact Childe Build: Abilities

Similar to any other Genshin Impact character, Tartaglia, aka Childe, has two major attacks: his Elemental Skill, Foul Legacy: Raging Tide, and his Elemental Burst attack called Havoc: Obliteration. The nature of Childe's Elemental Skill and Burst attacks make him an A to S Tier DPS unit that you can use in your party to deal big Hydro DMG to opponents. He is one of the best units that you can use to deal with Pyro-based enemies that you find all around Teyvat.

Now talking about Childe's Elemental Skill, Foul Legacy: Raging Tide, it brings a nuance to the existing gameplay system of Genshin Impact as Childe is a bow user. Though, when he uses his Elemental Skill, he changes his stance to Melee, using a set of weaponry made of pure water, dealing Hydro DMG to surrounding opponents. In the Melee stance, Childe also inflicts an effect on enemies called Riptide Slash - where hitting an opponent affected by Riptide (Elemental Skill) with a melee attack unleashes a Riptide Slash that deals AoE Hydro DMG. Childe's Elemental Skill itself makes him a great Hydro DPS unit.

Childe's Elemental Burst, Havoc: Obliteration, is a great attack that you can use to deal big Hydro DMG while inflicting additional damage - thanks to the special effect, Riptide Blast, that triggers when the Elemental Burst hits an opponent affected by Riptide, it clears their Riptide status and triggers a Hydro Explosion that deals AoE Hydro DMG. The Havoc: Obliteration attack has two stances:

  • Ranged Stance: Flash of Havoc: Swiftly fires a Hydro-imbued magic arrow, dealing AoE Hydro DMG and applying the Riptide status. Returns a portion of its Energy Cost after use.
  • Melee Stance: Light of Obliteration: Performs a slash with a large AoE, dealing massive Hydro DMG to all surrounding opponents, which triggers Riptide Blast.

Both the stances can deal massive Hydro based damage to opponents.

Best Genshin Impact Childe Build: Constellations

There are six Constellations that players can unlock serial wise if they have an additional copy of Childe. His Constellations generally focus on reducing the cooldown of Childe's abilities which take a very long time to reset. There are two things that we can recommend to Childe havers regarding his Constellations - the first thing is you don't need any of Childe's Constellations if you have two DPS units in your party.

Also, having a Hydro battery like Xingqiu can help you save Primogems that you have to waste to get additional copies of Childe. Now, the second thing is that you can try to get C2 Childe, and that is more than enough. With C2 Childe, you get decreased cooldown for Foul Legacy: Raging Tide, and you even generate additional Orbs of Energy when you defeat any opponent affected by the Riptide effect.

Below you can find all six Constellations of Childe along with an official description that explains each Constellations and what changes they add to Childe's kit.

  • C1 - Foul Legacy: Tide Withholder: Decreases the CD of Foul Legacy: Raging Tide by 20%
  • C2 - Foul Legacy: Understream: When opponents affected by Riptide are defeated, Tartaglia regenerates 4 Elemental Energy.
  • C3 - Abyssal Mayhem: Vortex of Turmoil: Increases the Level of Foul Legacy: Raging Tide by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
  • C4 - Abyssal Mayhem: Hydrospout: If Tartaglia is in Foul Legacy: Raging Tide's Melee Stance, triggers Riptide Slash against opponents on the field affected by Riptide every 4s, otherwise, triggers Riptide Flash. Riptide Slashes and Riptide Flashes triggered by this Constellation effect are not subject to the time intervals that would typically apply to these two Riptide effects, nor do they have any effect on those time intervals.
  • C5 - Havoc: Formless Blade: Increases the Level of Havoc: Obliteration by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
  • C6 - Havoc: Annihilation: When Havoc: Obliteration is cast in Melee Stance, the CD of Foul Legacy: Raging Tide is reset. This effect will only take place once Tartaglia returns to his Ranged Stance.

Best Genshin Impact Childe Build: Hydro DPS, Burst DPS, And More

Childe is a selfish DPS unit who can deal massive damage when he is on-field. His Support potential is almost negligible, and it's better we use weapons and artifacts that influence Childe's stats and not the overall party's stats. Keeping that in mind, we have listed the best weapons and artifacts that you can use on Childe to attain the Burst DPS or pure Hydro DPS builds.

Best Weapons For Childe

Polar Star is the best five-star weapon for Childe. Its secondary stat increases the CRIT Rate by a great amount. The Polar Star's weapon skill, Daylight’s Augury, increases the Elemental Skill and Burst abilities DMG while increasing the ATK%. If you don't own the Polar Star bow, you can use alternatives like Thundering Pulse, Skyward Harp, or The Rust.

The Rust is the best four-star Bow type weapon you can use on Childe to attain a pure Hydro DPS build. The weapon's secondary stat increases the ATK% of the wielder. Meanwhile, the weapon skill, Rapid Firing, increases Normal Attack DMG by 40% but decreases Charged Attack DMG by 10%. You can also Refine The Rust using extra copies of the same weapon to get increased DMG buffs.

Best Artifacts for Childe

Childe's abilities deal Hydro based DMG which cannot be overridden by any other element. So, keeping that in mind, we recommend players to use the pure Hydro artifact set called Heart of Depth
