Atlas Fallen takes place in the world of Atlas, a world once bright and prosperous but now subjugated to the rule of Thelos, the Sun God and his followers who are draining the planet, turning it into a desert tundra.

You play as an 'Unnamed', transporting Essence, a magical substance humans are forced to mine. On your travels, you stumble across The Gauntlet, a powerful artefact with magical properties that allows you to shapeshift different weapons at will and unlock new abilities like flight.

With this power comes new dangers, foes and the ability to unearth historic secrets and places in the world.

One of the key features present in the promotional material for Atlas Fallen is the sand glider traversal mechanic. You can voyage across the desolate ruins of former cities in style, either solo or with a friend via drop-in/drop-out co-op.

As you chain attacks you will accrue Momentum. Once full, Momentum operates in a similar way to Fury in God of War. It will unleash a more powerful blast at foes.

  • Dunecleaver
  • Sandwhip
  • Knuckledust

These weapons can be mixed and matched with the various Essence Stones available.

Within the story, Essence is the substance that is coveted by Thelos. Mechanically, it is the various abilities you can perform. There are over 100 Essence Stone special abilities to unlock, with three different tiers to slot them into. This means playstyles can vary wildly and there are many different combinations of restorative and destructive abilities to try out.
