The League of Legends World Championships is regarded as the epitome of esports. The largest event in the gaming world see's millions of viewers tuning in day upon day to watch the fiercest teams across the globe put on a spectacle to behold. 

Often, the LoL World Championships boast the largest viewership of any event per calendar year, rivalling that of mainstream sports too. 

Despite the global pandemic hindering much of the 2020 season, Riot Games was still able to put on a showcase filled with groundbreaking CGI displays, gameplay of the highest calibre, and even hosted fans for the grand finals after holding their teams in Covid-secure bubbles in Shanghai. 

Worlds 2020 saw China play hostess to the sixteen most talented teams around, as they all collected in Shanghai. This year, normality is set to resume, and Riot Games will be whisking the teams around China, as five cities have been revealed to accommodate the League of Legends World Championships 2021.

Riot Announce Five Cities Will Host LoL Worlds 2021

In the road to the Grand Finals, teams will visit five cities in China, as Riot prepare for a tour around the League of Legends homelands. 

The five cities that will host LoL Worlds 2021 are Shenzhen, Qingdao, Wuhan, Chengdu, and Shanghai.

The addition of Wuhan may have had a cause for concern amid the global pandemic breakout, with the Chinese city being reported as the place of origin of the virus. However, the city has since been thoroughly cleansed, with even anti-bacterial vans being enforced to clean the streets. 

League of Legends Worlds 2021 Grand Finals To Be Played In Shenzhen

The announcement also reiterated that the Grand Finals will be played in Shenzhen, where the Universiade Sports Centre Stadium will be the stage. 

With a colossal $2.225 million on the line, the Summer Split will prove ever so decisive as to who will be making the trip to China.

LoL Worlds 2021 will conclude on November 6, although no official date has been made for when it will commence.
