There were not many surprises on the first day of the WePlay! Invitational with all favourites clean sweeping the opposition 2-0. This set us up for a highly entertaining Day 2, with the Swiss tournament format pairing all the heavy hitters up against each other. As of time of writing, the pairings have yet to be announced. Here are the results of Day 1:

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs forZe (2-0)

Map 1: Haven (13-8)
Map 2: Bind (13-7)

Charles "CREA" Beauvois took charge of the game, ending at a strong 42 Kills, 28 Deaths and 10 Assists (+14 Kill-Death-Differential) scoreline on Omen.

PartyParrots vs need more DM (2-0)

Map 1: Haven (15-13)
Map 2: Bind  (13-6)

It got close on Map 1, with Party Parrots dragging the game to double overtime. A clutch Andrey "Shao" Kiprsky (+14) was the difference-maker, with the rest of the team admittedly not far behind. PartyParrots remains a consistently solid and well-balanced team.

Fish123 vs Prodigy (2-0)

Map 1: Haven (13-2)
Map 2: Ascent (13-9)

In a new role, Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom delivered a standout performance on Breach with a +20 kill differential. Moreover, the team seemed to have found their designated Operator player in Adam "ec1s" Eccles, who shone on Ascent with the sniper rifle.

G2 Esports vs nolpenki (2-0)

Map 1: Split (13-7)
Map 2: Ascent (14-12)
VOD link

A surprisingly close series especially on Ascent in which G2 Esports (G2) came back from a 3-11 first half. The star-studded roster clutched it out in the end on the back of Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks (+15) once again standing out for G2 with stand-in David "davidp" Prins (-11) lagging behind.
