Warzone is in a bit of a transitional period right now. Fans are waiting patiently for the launch of Season 5 in the coming days, and anticipation is rampant. The regular questions are circling once again - what’s coming? What’s changing in the meta? And what does Raven Software have in store for us when it comes to events?

Events have kept the excitement up for Warzone, and while some are certainly more compelling than others, they’ve at least kept players pinned to the game. And Warzone Season 5 is set to be no different, potentially bringing about the biggest changes the game has seen yet in the wake of the trailer’s secret “Vanguard coming” teaser.

Now, it looks like we have our first peek at the changes coming to the game in Season 5 - and they look to be big.

‘Modified’ Verdansk Coming In Season Five

According to Call of Duty leaker HeyImAlaix, there’s an in-game file buried in Warzone’s code that suggests something explosive is coming to Verdansk. The code might look like total nonsense to the layman, but Alaix seems to have cracked it. The code is spelt out as "explosion mp_don4_x2_explosion" and seems to imply that a change to the Verdansk map is coming in the latest season, and that somehow, a whopper of an explosion will be responsible for the change.

Alaix has also discovered some files that reveal some new custom skins for the game, presumably World War II-themed to match with the cross-promotion of the upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard.

What Does This Event Mean For Warzone?

The way the event is described is vague, but it could bring about a lot of change to the way Warzone is played. Similarly to the Nuke Event, this explosion could easily be responsible for changing multiple POIs, leaving them as rubble, or even introducing something that could be built on the plots of previous buildings and important locations.

We simply can’t know what’s to come until it happens, or indeed until we see a teaser that alludes to the explosion itself, so in the meantime, it’s all speculation. But, there’s still every chance that this explosion could flip Verdansk on its head.

We’re interested to see where this event could take the game - especially as we’ve seen explosions before. Bring it on.
