Gaming is getting into the Halloween spirit, and we couldn’t be happier about it. Fortnitemares is returning, and if the leaks are to be believed, it could be the very best year yet, and Apex Legends’ Monsters Within event has caused a touch of controversy, but regardless of event quality, the gaming world is coming together to celebrate the spookiest season of them all.

And, as with last year, Call of Duty has a very big event planned to coincide with that very Hallowed Eve, and it might be their biggest event yet.

Ghostface And Donnie Darko’s Frank Arrive in Verdansk

The full roadmap for the Haunting event in Call of Duty has been revealed, and it’s bringing with it plenty of new game modes, features, and of course, cosmetics. Most notably joining the current Call of Duty slate is Ghostface, the mysterious killer from the Scream franchise, and Frank from emo classic Donnie Darko.

The event is also coming with some other goodies for Warzone, while a lot of it is going to Black Ops Cold War - Verdansk is getting the new mode Ghosts of Verdansk, which is similar to last year’s zombie mode with an added feat meter, making players hallucinate. Think Amnesia’s sanity meter, but with more guns.

There’s also the Ghost of War, Necro Queen and Disciple of Mayhem cosmetic skins, as well as the arrival of the LAPA SMG. Just after the event comes the Hammer & Sickle melee weapon too, so you can take your comradeship to the battlefield.

When Does The Haunting Event End?

A date specifying the end of the event hasn’t been provided by Call of Duty just yet, but the reveal of the Hammer & Sickle suggests it comes at the end of the event and launches on November 2, so you won’t have any more than two days after Halloween to work your way through all of the spooky content.

This year’s event looks just as good as it did last year, and we’re excited to drop in and embrace the schlocky horror movie kills.
