Warzone 2.0 is in full swing right now, and it's really beginning to feel like we've been there forever.

The experience is largely the same as what we'd come to expect with the very first Warzone game, and Al Mazrah is serving as a great new home for fans of the Call of Duty battle royale experience.

But, of course, the legacy of Warzone hangs around. There are still a lot of players who miss what the experience once was, with Verdansk serving as the benchmark for battle royale maps and the first game's chaotic events being the lasting memories when Warzone is brought into conversation.

And, with the wild scenes that we saw last Christmas, fans are bracing themselves for something horrific.

Fans Are Nervous For Warzone This Christmas

The history of Warzone is clearly causing problems for fans, as they can't be sure that the new game won't make a mess of a holiday event like its predecessor.

Previous years have seen nightmarish elves racing around the map and causing a nuisance, freaking players out with their twisted little giggles, and the appearance of Krampus, who appears out of nowhere and sweeps entire squads, leaving players feeling like their chances at winning a battle royale games were robbed.

The conversation has begun in Reddit, where players are beginning to get nervous that the new game could end up following suit, offering a new Christmas event that does little but irritate players.

"Let me remind you something," reads the post from lookaz-wpl. "Holiday break, zero updates and PTSD christmas events. Do you remember? Brace yourself."

Players Share Their Fears For Christmas In Al Mazrah

Some players in the Reddit post's comments are incredibly concerned that something akin to Krampus - or worse - could be on the way.

"They could just make it dusky and snowing over Al Mazrah and that would be enough," reads one comment. None of this cartoon arcade stuff please, so far its been fairly military aesthetic and I hope it stays that way."

"Already started with football player operators," says another. "This is the beginning."

A new horror could be on the way for Christmas, it's true - but come on, guys. It's Christmas. Have a little hope.
