Valve has mastered the art of making long-term games, having seen its main project of Counter-Strike create a dynasty in the industry. It's followed by Valve's smaller, yet not to-be-forgotten, catalogue of titles like Dota, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 - all of which have more than a decade to their reign.

The latter of which is still performing surprisingly well, with TF2 being unearthed out of a mod, fledging into a full title, and being one of the most entertaining FPS games in the business.

Yet if you fancied squeezing more carnage out of the game, Valve is sending you mixed signals, as it created the most anarchist game mode yet, only to tell people not to play it...

Team Fortress 2's 100-player lobbies has already caused carnage

Typically, Team Fortress 2 pits lobbies of 32 together in teams of 16, but in a recent update, Valve pack-a-punched this and released lobbies thrice the size. This took the player count up to 100, with teams of 50.

With the update and a successive one to tinker with a wealth of performance issues, Valve had many players flocking back to the 16-year-old shooter while looking to enjoy the absolute mayhem that 50v50 offered.

However, as you can expect for a game of this size, adding 100 players onto the same server could be a recipe for disaster, and that's exactly what Valve has said. Taking to its latest patch notes, Valve is actually dissuading players from playing the "not supported" game mode.

Although Valve pushed the update out, within its own patch notes, the company has said that the mode is "unsupported and not recommended." Valve also added that you play "at your own risk," meaning it will not be responsible for crashes and bugs within the lobby.

The new game mode is live now. If you can bare through the odd hiccup, you might be in for quite a treat, filled with pixellated bloodshed and havoc.
