Ubisoft has casually confirmed Tom Clancy's The Division 3 in a post about the Division's new executive producer, Julian Gerighty.

While fans are excited at the prospect of a new game, many of them were surprised that they found out through a tweet and not a grand announcement.

The Divison 3 was announced in a very casual way

Despite the size of Tom Clancy's The Division franchise, the announcement that the third game is in the works was not made at a convention or in a Ubisoft Forward.

Instead, The Division 3 was announced at the bottom of a Ubisoft news release announcing that Julian Gerighty would be taking over the position of Executive Producer.

Not much is known about the third instalment at this stage and it seems like development may not have started yet. However, knowing that they're putting a team together bodes well for the game's future.

Julian Gerighty is returning to The Division team as Executive Producer

Julian Gerighty first joined Tom Clancy's The Division team in 2014 as an Associate Creative Director.

He is currently the Creative Director for Star Wars Outlaws, and will be joining the The Division team once the game has shipped.

The number one priority once he joins will be on brand identity and assembling a talented team to work on Tom Clancy’s The Division 3.

Gerighty said: "We may have over 40 million players, but The Division is still in its early years as a franchise. There are so many incredible stories to tell, places to explore and people to protect.

“I think that we delivered that with Tom Clancy’s The Division’s cutting-edge visuals, incredible gameplay, and promise to the player that they can't get this experience anywhere else, and then again with Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. It’s about refinement, it's about pushing the quality bar consistently forward.”
