Following the introduction of main characters Russell Adler in Black Ops Cold War, it looks like a new protagonist is on the cards in an upcoming Call of Duty instalment, as 'Ratcliff' has just been revealed by the actor himself.

Unlike the Modern Warfare series, the Black Ops cast is more open to rotation, with the core of Mason, Woods, and Hudson being joined by different covert characters throughout their lives.

But as development for their 2024 Gulf War title - a sequel to Cold War - gathers pace, the new "main character" has just announced himself.

CoD 2024 may have a new protagonist named Ratcliffe

While Modern Warfare 3's campaign will come first, featuring the very undead Graves as an antagonist, Treyarch has been hard at work developing its own storylines.

Yet with so many people hoping that the rumoured Cold War sequel will save the franchise, leaks have begun to come thick and fast, and now even the new actors themselves are letting slip their roles.

In particular, a Hollywood-based actor named Luke Charles Stafford has now revealed that they will be featured as the "main character" in the next Call of Duty game, having his likeness used as the face and body of "Ratcliffe".

The actor took to social media to reminisce over his journey from being a Black Ops 2 fan at university to now being the "next main character" in Call of Duty, before revealing the protagonist's name for the reportedly Gulf War-set title.

At one stage of Call of Duty history, it appeared that Treyarch decided against continuing their characters' stories through the campaign, as they opted to place their eggs in the Blackout basket for Black Ops 4 instead of including a story mode.

However, they soon turned up the tempo in Cold War, rebooting some characters like Mason and Woods, who will reportedly return in Gulf War, seemingly alongside Adler and Ratcliffe.

With the campaign in full swing and an "all-in" approach to Zombies, Black Ops Gulf War 2024 is finely poised to be the best game in the series for years, finally offering fans a complete and finished article from the get-go.
