The Death Stranding fanboys (and by that, we mean Hideo Kojima fanboys) are going to be eating well over the next few years.

Not only do we have an entirely new project in OD to look forward to, but now that we know that a full sequel to the iconic postman-simulator horror title Death Stranding, but we finally get to watch Kojima embrace his auteurship and bring the story to the big screen.

The movie itself has been quiet for a moment, and fans have been desperate for more info - and now, it looks like we’ve got it.

Talk about a match made in heaven.

A tweet that has since been deleted accidentally linked out to a listing on the A24 website that confirms that the Death Stranding movie is, in some way, connected to the arthouse icons A24. The production company have been behind the likes of Midsommar, The Lighthouse and Lady Bird in the past.

The tweet linked out to a page on the A24 site that shows off a brand new t-shirt, smearing the A24 logo with the falling tendrils that are present in a lot of Death Stranding’s marketing. The page reveals what we thought the t-shirt implied - “It’s official: we’ve partnered with Kojima Productions on the live-action feature film adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed video game, DEATH STRANDING,” reads the listing. “Share your excitement with our new DS-inspired A24 logo tee, featuring a custom A24 x Kojima Productions woven label.

Is A24 producing Death Stranding?

So far, we don’t really know if the company is taking over full production responsibilities for Death Stranding, but at the very least, they’re attached somewhat.

It’s a pairing that makes perfect sense, and if the madness of Death Stranding should be left in the hands of anyone, it should probably be those who helped to create Best Picture winner Everything, Everywhere All At Once.

Kojima’s step into the film world is set to be a big one, and with this partnership in the works, it’s clear that no expense is being spared to bring Sam Porter Bridges’ story to the big screen. Now we just have to wait to see who gets cast.
