Capcom's Street Fighter 6 has been incredible for fans so far, and as it rolls out fresh updates pretty consistently, the game is proving to be perhaps the best fighter that the modern era of Street Fighter has produced so far.

It's a great result for Capcom, especially as the legacy titles in the Street Fighter franchise have always seemed to come out on top. With the appearance of EVO Japan 2024, the fighting game world has rallied around the best of the best in a furious tournament to crown new champions.

This comes with some big announcements in the fighting game world, and it's just been revealed when we can expect a new scrapper coming to the Street Fighter franchise - and it's a returning icon that fans have been waiting for.

Akuma release date revealed at Evo Japan 2024

It's a bonkers day for fighter reveals so far, with Bandai Namco revealing its next Tekken 8 DLC fighter, but all eyes have hit Street Fighter 6 at Evo, as it's revealed when the iconic Akuma will be hitting the game.

Players are thrilled to see Akuma return after his appearance was shockingly absent from the launch of Street Fighter 6. It now looks like players won’t have to wait too long before the character makes it to the game, as Capcom reveals his gameplay trailer.

He's looking as big, bad, and brutal as ever, and it looks like this time around, he won't be much to trifle with. Revealed as the last of the year one characters to come to the game, Evo Japan 2024 has revealed that the beast will be coming to Street Fighter 6 on May 22, 2024.

It's great news for players who have missed the character and a hint that now that we know more about Akuma's return, the second year of reveals for Street Fighter 6 could be on the way soon. Bring it on.
