To quote Master Yoda, "Do or do not, there is no try." While even the most die-hard Call of Duty fans are getting tired of lacklustre crossovers with The Boys and The Walking Dead, there's a rumbling in the Force that a major collab could be on the way - shaking the CoD galaxy to its core.

Fortnite regularly enjoys the galaxy far, far away, so it's unclear why the CoDverse is yet to embrace Star Wars. It could be that the IP is simply too big for the shooter series to do justice, but now, we could see Darth Maul and Captain Price go head-to-head in epic style.

Fans think Ahmed Best is teasing a Call of Duty x Star Wars crossover

We've always felt bad for Ahmed Best, the actor best known as the voice of Jar Jar Binks. Even though the gibbering Gungan was a low of The Phantom Menace, it doesn't excuse the bullying Best has faced. He's since returned to the franchise, playing Kelleran Beq in the likes of The Mandalorian, but could he be reprising his roles for CoD?

Over on Instagram, Best shared an Instagram post that teased his involvement in some video game. The interesting part is the use of #Activision, teasing that it has something to do with the gaming giant. The upcoming Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 is expected to land around April, so imagine if it was themed around Star Wars.

There's a lot of connecting the dots and big leaps here, but it's sent Star Wars and CoD fans alike into a frenzy. When one fan asked, "Jar Jar Binks new operator in Call of Duty?" another added, "I'd play cod just for that." Someone else simply wrote, "LET'S GO!!! I am so excited to see what you have in store!!"

From early titles like Dark Forces through to Republic Commando and the original Battlefront games, these legacy Star Wars shooters set the stage for DICE's revamped Battlefront series. Sadly, the failures of Battlefront II killed off our hopes of a trilogy.

War efforts still exist in Star Wars, but as the likes of Respawn Entertainment's Jedi games hone in on the story, shooter levels are few and far between. Upcoming titles, including Outlaws and Eclipse look like they'll stick with story or let you swing a lightsaber, meaning the classic Star Wars shooter has been Force-chocked...for now.

We know Respawn is working on a Star Wars FPS with Peter Hirschmann as the lead, but for now, we might have to get our shooter fix from the CoD store. Activision doesn't look like it's giving up on the franchise's Fortnitification, and if that includes us buying a Sy Snootles skin, so be it.
