The Call of Duty League is in full swing, with Stage 3 poising some of the tensest gameplay we've seen so far this season. With a great wealth of storylines, roster changes, and resurgent teams, the Stage 3 Major had fans on the edge of their seats.

As the epitome of Call of Duty esports, Search and Destroy was the forefront for many of the nail-biting moments, notably some Round 11 drama for OpTic Gaming versus Florida Mutineers and Toronto Ultra.

However, going into Stage 4, the league has now added a new map to the pool, replacing one of the more stagnant and one-sided maps, which has often been under scrutiny from viewers and players alike.

Standoff In For CDL Stage 4

Confirmed by the Call of Duty League themselves, Standoff will come into the CDL Search and Destroy rotation for Stage 4. The map will replace Checkmate, joining Raid, Miami, Express, and Moscow.

Reactions to Standoff in the CDL

Most players had recently been experimenting with the map in practices and scrims, most notably OpTic Gaming who took on Challengers side UT Crew. Players recently took to social media to explain that the map is not ready to host respawns, with many of the 4v4 spawns proving as quite a stumbling block.

However, as it was added for Search and Destroy, some players have welcomed it with open arms. As vocal as always, Chris "Parasite" Duarte took to Twitter to say "Glad to see Standoff in for Checkmate", whilst Atlanta FaZe's main man Alec "Arcitys" Sanderson jibed that he was disappointed that it was Checkmate to make way.

The general consensus is that Standoff needed to be in the mix, although there are split feelings as to whether it should have been Miami or Checkmate to be removed.

The CDL Stage 4 kicks off on Thursday, May 27, where Atlanta FaZe will look to retain their top position with the likes of OpTic Gaming, New York Subliners, and Toronto Ultra snapping at their heels.
