If anyone is remembering The Day Before in 2024, that's because they're remembering the catastrophic lead-up and launch rather than the game that plenty of devs worked hard on.

It's a shame that the work amounted to nothing, with The Day Before being pulled from Steam shortly after its debut. Still, it was surrounded by strangeness from the get-go, with players claiming that the game simply didn't exist and the entire company folding shortly after it launched.

It was a shocking turn, but in one more wild twist, The Day Before has seemingly returned. You heard us - The Day before has found its way back onto Steam. Well, kind of.

The Day Before is back on Steam (sort of)

After Fntastic collapsed its entire company and stripped The Day Before from digital storefronts, fans expected that it'd be the last they'd see of the survival horror. That isn't the case, as The Day Before has mysteriously appeared on Steam.

As spotted by PCGamesN, The Day Before appeared on the Steam storefront and even boasted the Fntastic company name. Given that the original was scalped massively in the wake of its imminent closure, it's a confusing situation. But don't be fooled, it's a fake.

The game listing didn't always belong to the facade of Fntastic, with it previously belonging to an account called Carrot The Cat, proving that the title listing itself is a fake. It seems as though the listing is making an attempt to capitalise on morbid curiosity and will likely give players little more than a fake. Keep away.

At of the time of writing, the listing for this faux The Day Before can no longer be found on Steam, indicating that Valve was quick to spot the fake. Surprising no one, given its abysmal reviews and player count, it looks like The Day Before won't be returning to Steam any time soon.

After the closure of the servers of the game, it's safe to say that The Day Before will never return again, especially as the team behind it has dissolved. Sorry to those of you who missed the few-day window to play it - the era of The Day Before is over. As though it never began.
