The many spokes of Activision's wheel of developers are supporting the Modern Warfare 3 frame, but as the main peddler, Sledgehammer Games, approaches the finishing line, it has decided to take a dig at its predecessors.

Sledgehammer Games is taking over as the main driver of Call of Duty this year, mounting Modern Warfare 3 as Infinity Wark parks MW2 up.

As the keys are handed to Sledgehammer though, they've waved a middle finger at Infinity Ward by mocking them with a trailer dedicated to Modern Warfare 2's biggest downfall.

One of Modern Warfare 2's biggest flaws, in the eyes of the majority, was the footsteps. The noise was heightened and combined with PC sound equalization settings, you could hear enemies from across the map. To make things worse, they removed Dead Silence as a perk and made it a Field Upgrade reward.

But the Dead Silence / Ninja perk, which muffles footsteps and movement volume, is returning in the form of Covert Sneakers, and Sledgehammer Games made a full twenty-seven-second trailer just to highlight the new boots.

The short clip is the only video of its kind to highlight an in-game feature, and it comes after a full year of begging for the perk's return.

Sledgehammer Games has already reversed quite a lot of features that Infinity Ward changed with MW2, such as having classic minimaps and a working Ghost perk, but now after its social media gimmick, fans are jumping on the bandwagon.

"I hope Infinity Ward sees the reactions this game is getting and isn’t so stubborn on their next release. I like their vision for MW, but they need to compromise and listen to the fans like Sledgehammer is doing," one fan said in response to the video.

Another fan added, "More marketing that’s literally just 'hey guys we did the opposite of IW!' Let’s goooo," as CharlieIntel shared the post.

It's clear to see that these features are going down well though, and Infinity Ward will be kicking itself over their MW2 omissions.
