Kim "skewed" Min-seok is cementing himself as a world-class support player. Hidden in orbit by circumstance for the last two seasons, skewed has lept out in front as a prominent piece of the Seoul Infernal's 2023 Overwatch League bid. He caught up with GGRecon ahead of the Infernal's Week 3 games to chat about how the stage affected their game, Brigitte's most recent change, and more.

The first clash of the two Seoul franchises saw the Infernal look incredibly promising. Obviously, the outcome wasn't ideal but what were some of the lessons you took away from your opening match?

I learned that our team needed to adjust and adapt to the stage setup as it was our first offline match. We just had to perform like how we always did in our scrims, not being nervous or panicking. These are the things that are on the list to be solved this season.

In your opinion, what do you think went wrong?

I think that when it was our turn to attack, we were too defensive and that led to more chances for the Seoul Dynasty. The biggest problem was that we couldn’t keep up with the strategy that we prepared.

I'd love to ask you about this team fight on Antarctic Peninsula. The Dynasty teleported on you with their Reinhardt composition and you hit a massive 6-player Biotec Grenade. Did their choice of Reinhardt catch you guys off guard at all?

I expected it to some extent as the Antarctic Peninsula was a map where Reinhardt was a common choice. But Symmetra was unexpected, so after the first fight I was caught off guard.

Did that fight pan out like you guys expected or was this more of an adaptation on your part?

Because I was thrown off by the TP, I was just getting ready for the next fight’s TP. I knew that they would utilize Symmetra’s TP to look for me and I saved up on Biotic Grenade. As a team, we talked on how we can overcome this situation together.

Week 2 for the Infernal led off with a sweep over the 2023 world champions. That has got to bolster your confidence, right? How does it feel after such a statement win?

I think I gained a lot of confidence as we won both matches 3-0, especially against a team that has won the championship.

For sure the first week was not what we expected but in the second week, the strategy we prepared worked well and our teamwork was on point. Within that short period of time, it felt good that as a team we have developed one step further.

The Fuel always has seemed to be very stylistic and this year is no different. What was the preparation like heading into this match knowing that Dallas seems to favour Junker Queen?

First of all, Dallas used Junker Queen in the last match and also during scrim as well. We kind of knew that they would be using Junker Queen and we would counter her with Ramattra or Reinhardt.

In fact, our Reinhardt strategy worked well against Dallas on Oasis.

Speaking of heroes, western fans hold your Brigitte as one of the best ever, so we have to ask; what is your stance on the new Brigitte? Do you think she's overall better than she was before?

The ultimate for Brigitte changed a lot in a good way. But of course, there exists a bit of nerfs as well. Overall it is good that when you ultimate, your health charges to 300, your shield buffs to 750, and you can knock out the opponent.

However, when I played her, it seemed like the previous ultimate had a higher team retention and a better survival setting. To pick the worst remake of Brigitte is her shortened distance of E skills. As of right now, Brigitte can be seen in a lot of matches as there are not a lot of main healer heroes to synergize with Ana, Zen, or Baptiste.

Other players might think differently from me, but this is what I thought of Brigitte.

Coming in Week 3 you've got the Hangzhou Spark and the Guangzhou Charge, what's your prediction on how those matches go? Any fighting words for your opponents?

If we prepare well for the coming matches, we will win and if our strategy doesn’t work then it will be a difficult game. I’m sure that Hangzhou and Guangzhou will have headaches because of us. They probably won’t know what kind of comps we will come up with and there will be different comps that we will prepare.
