The latest details surrounding the next Football Manager game have been revealed in a surprise blog post, giving long-time fans much to look forward to in the upcoming entries. There are new features falling out of the seams of this post, with engine changes on the horizon, and aspects that many dedicated players have been requesting for decades now.

Some players have accused the Football Manager series of feeling a bit stale in recent years, with minimal changes in-between entries that perhaps don't justify a sequel. Sports Interactive look to shape things up in the upcoming entry though, with further projects for FM25 too.

The most complete version of Football Manager yet

The boldest claim that has emerged from this blog post is that "FM24 will be inarguably the most complete version to date." While one could make the argument that each iteration improves on the last in at least a small way, this assertation certainly inspires confidence that big changes are on the horizon.

We are still yet to see the fruits of this confidence, but one of the headline features that will be a game-changer for so many players is 'the ability to transfer saved games from one version to the next'.

This is a feature that players have been asking for since the days of Championship Manager, so to see it arrive within FM24 would be a huge triumph. There are unfortunately no details beyond this reveal right now - so we don't know how far back this feature will stretch - but it will be monumental for the future of the series nonetheless.

FM25 is the future

A significant portion of the blog was dedicated to what we will see beyond the upcoming FM24 release, with hints towards big changes in FM25.

For starters, FM25 will mark the move to the Unity game engine, which could potentially provide an improved match engine, alongside other gameplay and visual improvements.

Furthermore, FM25 will also be the first Football Manager title to feature women's football in an official capacity, which is excellent news as it has been a rather glaring omission in the past few games.

Overall there is so much to look forward to in the future of Football Manager, and with this blog post, it feels like we are only just getting started. It will be just a matter of time now before we see why they are so confident about the upcoming release.
