Riot Games has taken a grand step toward reducing toxicity in League of Legends - but many fans think disabling All Chat is a step too far.

League of Legends is an incredibly popular game, especially in the esports scene. It means that toxicity almost naturally appears. It’s something that games can’t do much to avoid beyond banning keywords that are used in snotty gamers' hate-rages. For the most part, you can’t patch out players calling other players trash.

It’s just not something developers are able to implement fairly, much to the detriment of game communities. But Riot Games has come up with a solution, that many have regarded as incredibly extreme.

League Of Legends Deactivates All Chat Feature

League Of Legends Remove All Chat To Curb Trolls

Riot Games has now officially announced that All Chat - a longtime feature that makes the queue for a game a little less dull - is being pulled from the game in a bid to take care of its toxicity problem.

"We know this sucks for those of you who just want to compliment your lane opponent’s skin or ask for a dance party in baron pit", Riot has stated in a press release. "But we believe the tradeoff is worth it to cut down on the growing negativity all chat has been creating in your games."

This has rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way, but Riot has assured them this isn’t the end of their pre-game communications.

League Of Legends Still Allow Pre-Game Comms

As bad as the removal of All Chat might seem for many, Riot has insisted this doesn’t mean that players can’t communicate with their foes before a game. They’ll still be able to communicate with team members, as well as being able to use emotes, champion masteries, and the various CTRL spams - which have not been removed.

It might just mean that LoL players need to find an emote that can equate to MarioKart’s frustrating "I’m using tilt controls!" announcement.

It’s a big change for LoL, but still, chances are it’ll do what its removal intends to do. You’re just going to have to get creative with your disses.
