We're going back to the future as the next League of Legends (LoL) update has gone all futuristic. Riot Games might still be in the middle of its serene Spirit Blossom event, but looking ahead at what's to come, there are some serious Ghost in the Shell vibes on the horizon.

LoL's Public Beta Environment preview showed off which Champions will be sporting these colourful new looks - called PsyOps skins - with five fan favourites making the final cut.

PsyOps skins coming to League of Legends

Make some room in the wardrobe, as Riot is releasing a whole host of cyberpunk-style skins as part of the PsyOps range. Expect new stylings for Master Yi, Shen, and Vi - who are going to get new 1350RP cost skins.

Ezreal gets the same and a Prestige edition variant for the usual cost of 100 Prestige points cost. The Prestige skin is similar to True Damage with its metallic aesthetic, however, this one has some Android-esque sound effects.

While the above are all well and good, the big pull is undoubtedly going to be Sona’s PsyOps skin, which is apparently coming with new SFX and a level 6 transformation. With Sona's PsyOps skin being a little out of the box, its price point is higher at 1820RP.

With the new skins, it means Ezreal topples Miss Fortune from pole position and overtakes her to become the character with the most skins (14 to be exact). Once the kinks have been ironed out in the PBE, expect the skins to be up for sale so you can strut around League of Legends like you've just popped by from the future.

The skins were previously leaked by Brazilian streamer Streamie (before the tweet was deleted), who also correctly predicted the Spirit Blossom event and has teased the arrival of the 151st Champion - Samira. Even though there's currently no splash art for the PsyOps skins, it's expected to drop soon.

Riot is no stranger to sci-fi elements thanks to Project skinline's take on the future and the recent Pulsfire with strange addition of Victorian time police. Still, if you'd ever dreamed of playing a psychedelic android in League of Legends, your wish is Riot Games' command.
