The idea of a cloud device from PlayStation would be alluring for anyone, especially as Xbox seems to have seriously cornered the market - but when Sony revealed its new attempt to corner Cloud will be dependant on a PS5 and won't let you stray from your main console to play games, players were immediately sceptical.

The idea could work - but its limited scope could lead to a disaster on PlayStation's part - unless, of course, its pricing is incredibly competitive.

And now, it looks like success could be on the horizon with the company's foray into the Cloud.

It has just been revealed that the upcoming PlayStation handheld will be launching later this year.

The news has been revealed with a new blog post on the PlayStation site, announcing that the PlayStation Portal remote device will cost £200 at launch.

"PlayStation Portal remote player brings the PS5 experience to the palm of your hand," reads the post. "It includes the key features of the DualSense wireless controller, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The vibrant 8-inch LCD screen is capable of 1080p resolution at 60fps, providing a high definition visual experience that’s expected from the high quality games created by world-class developers."

PlayStation reveals new audio devices

Along with the news of the release of the PlayStation Portal, PlayStation has revealed that new peripherals are coming too - the PULSE Elite wireless headset and the PULSE Explore wireless earbuds.

"Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore will be the first PlayStation audio devices to use custom-designed planar magnetic drivers for an audiophile-level listening experience normally found in premium headphones for professional sound engineers," says the announcement. "With Pulse Explore, we’re pleased to be one of the first companies to provide wireless earbuds to the mass consumer market using planar magnetic driver technology."

The PULSE Elite will be £149.99, and the PULSE Explore will be £199.99.
