Bank-robbery simulator Payday 3 is finally here, and though the series isn't exactly one of the biggest hitters in the video game industry, its fanbase is more dedicated than most, and the team-based gameplay has made the games all the more infectious to dedicated squads.

And now, as the new game launches, it looks like the heists themselves aren't limited to the digital world.

Payday 3 brings the heist to London

In a new event introduced to celebrate the arrival of Payday 3, a van has driven around London giving players the chance to bag their own payday.

The launch event for the game sent a van with “Follow the money" plastered on its side around London, before it pulled up in an undisclosed location covered in Payday branded hundred-dollar bills. With these bills, the lucky recipients were entered into a draw to win a month's salary back.

The event was set up in response to the fact that when billed, 37% of Brits would rob a bank themselves if they had assurance that they could get away with it. Seems like the event came at the right time, then, if people are willing to get up and enact their own Payday heist.

It's pretty dramatic to let players indulge in their own dreams of a bank heist, but then again, so is Payday.

The crossovers that we could yet see from the newest instalment of the Payday franchise are being kept pretty hush for now, but Brand Director and Head of Community at Starbreeze Almir Listo has a pretty good idea of what he wants to show up in-game.

“I would love to see us do something in the vein of National Treasure, just a massive explorative venture where the PAYDAY gang do something that is very difficult, but ultimately achieves it,” he says in conversation with GGRecon.

It'd be a pretty great crossover - and with the payouts that Payday is making to fans, it seems they've got the chops to make it happen. We'll be waiting very patiently.
