It's doubtful that Activision Blizzard will ever make characters that get players going as much as Overwatch's lineup of Widowmaker, Tracer, and Mercy, but still, there's a thirst for more hunks to be added.

On the male side of the heartthrobs, Cole Cassidy and Hanzo fly the flag with their pecks, but with Lifeweaver now coming into play, the title of sexiest hero is up for debate again...apparently.

But after his reveal, Overwatch 2 players are now not convinced by Lifeweaver's appearance, given that he was supposed to rival Mercy as the number one icon.

Overwatch 2 fans upset by Lifeweaver's appearance

With Lifeweaver following a similar role to Mercy, Blizzard has often compared the two in their discussions, and even claimed that the new hero will be "Mercy cute".

This meant that the thirsty side of Overwatch 2's fan base was expecting the healer to come packing with a lot of lust and appeal.

However, after being revealed, Overwatch 2 fans are now upset at the skin design and characteristics of Lifeweaver, who isn't necessarily "cute" but is instead quite a silver fox.

Lifeweaver's level of 'cute' rubs Overwatch 2 fans up the wrong way

"I don't mean to go into awkward detail on this but I found Mercy cute in a beautiful but non-sexual manner. As opposed to say Widowmaker who is clearly sexed up," said a fan on Reddit.

"Which is strange because I sorta can get where Lifeweaver is Mercy cute design wise (almost pass as siblings) but at the same time he almost looks like he belongs in some sexed up Anime visual novel," they added.

Someone else defended Blizzard's "cute" quote, claiming that they simply said Lifeweaver would be more like Mercy than Jetpack cat. With a distinct lack of whiskers and paws, it's clear to see what they were referring to, rather than building Lifeweaver up to be the new sex icon.

But, Lifeweaver will continue to be assessed and put under the microscope as he prepares for an arrival, giving him more than enough time to win over the entire fan base.
