Ninjas in Pyjamas has officially announced that the fifth member of their VALORANT roster will be Russian rookie Egor "chiwawa" Stepanyuk, who has successfully completed his trial period.

Chiwawa has been operating for NiP since September 17, with the organisation now making his move permanent. Often using either Cypher or Killjoy to suit his "unconventional" play-style, the org have branded the rookie as "the level-headed anchor the team has been looking for".

Chiwawa stated in a blog post that "I’m proud to be a part of this legendary organisation. Ever since the Katowice Grand Final in 2015, I’ve dreamt about playing for NiP. I’ve been playing with the guys for a while now, and I fully believe that we can accomplish magic together. I can’t wait until the first big tournament to show everyone what we’re capable of".

With Chiwawa at the helm, Ninjas in Pyjamas were able to secure first place at the GLX Elite: EU Series, fending off competition from the likes of Gambit Esports and Prodigy. Having undergone a turbulent few months after their entry to VALORANT, the huge esports organisation will now hope that this move will help settle the roster and move through the ranks of Europe to challenge the likes of Team Liquid and G2 Esports.

As for Chiwawa himself, he previously operated for Entropiq, a Czech organisation who competed in a series of GLX EU Battles and national tournaments but were never able to scale the region.

Ninjas in Pyjamas now boast a penti-national roster, with players coming from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sweden, France, Germany, and now Russia.

With Chiwawa adding to the ranks, the NiP Chief Operating Officer Jonas Gundersen stated: "I am super happy to have Chiwawa as part of NiP. He’s an incredibly talented player with a fantastic attitude and good spirits all around. Excited to see how far he can take it!"

The side will next compete in the First Strike tournament qualifiers in November, where they will look to push the roster to new heights.
