Sledgehammer Games' Modern Warfare 3 has been a nostalgia-filled joyride for many fans, and while the journey isn't over yet, eyes are turning towards Treyarch's 2024 title.

With the game reportedly taking a Gulf War theme and marking the return of round-based Zombies, the hype is already starting to build.

Call of Duty fans have even started speculating on what's coming and what they would most like to see from the devs.

One of the most requested modes for Call of Duty 2024 is an extremely old-school feature that gives players more freedom and creativity, especially around capturing gameplay.

MW3 players want Theater Mode back in Call of Duty 2024

Taking to Twitter on April 13, the popular Call of Duty account CharlieINTEL decided to ask the community, "What's one thing you hope to see in Treyarch's new Call of Duty game this year?"

While some have called for the game to debut on Game Pass, and others for classic Zombies experience, the most requested by far is a Theater Mode.

This OG feature was originally added in the first Black Ops and allows players to take screenshots, record gameplay, slow down footage, and just overall get more creative with clips. The ability to take videos and shots from any perspective on the map was brilliant, and it's something CoD players are desperate to see return.

"Theatre mode, let cod montages be great once again," said one user, with another asking for "Theater Mode, OG menu, better progression system, new modes, bigger maps."

Some CoD fans think Theater Mode is "outdated" and pointless

There is one problem with Theater Mode that some CoD players are quick to raise, and that's whether it's worth the development time, given all the recording options players now have on PC and console by default.

Back in the OG Black Ops days, consoles didn't have in-built recording software, but now PS5 and Xbox One can capture clips with the click of a button. As a result, there are Call of Duty fans who think Treyarch spending time on Theater Mode would be a waste of time.

"Wait why? You can record on Windows and Xbox," said one user, with another claiming, "Out of all the things this guy could’ve said, #1 was Theatre Mode."

Of course, the counter-argument is that Theatre Mode is better for montages and cool edits, as it opens up more perspectives and angles. There's also an expectation that if Theatre was added in CoD 2024, Treyarch would expand the features and take it to a new level.
