Monster Hunter turns 20 this year, and while Capcom has been fairly quiet, with the company working on Monster Hunter Wilds for 2025, it has started to celebrate the series since we hit 2024.

We've already seen a partnership with MSI on an array of PC parts and accessories, and the "Return to World' campaign is in full flow to help bring players into the franchise in arguably its finest entry. Now, Monster Hunter is heading to mobile again (no, it's not Monster Hunter Now).

If you play on mobile (or have seen any YouTube video or sponsored Twitch stream in the last few years), RAID: Shadow Legends likely needs no introduction.

It's an RPG that offers turn-based combat and gacha mechanics, and now features over 700 Champions to earn. That includes previous crossovers with Xena: Warrior Princess and Ronda Rousey of UFC WWE, and, um, Furious 7.

Now, the New World is coming to Plarium's mobile title, as Hunters from Capcom's franchise arrive in the form of Legendary Champions wearing iconic armour.

Players can claim 5 Legendary Champions decked out in Rathalos, Negigante, Zinogre, Fatalis, and Alatreon gear between January 9 and March 5, 2024.

Rathalos Blademaster can be obtained by logging in for seven days during the event, while additional time-limited events will unlock the other four.

"We are thrilled to bring players an exciting new collection of Champions based on some of the most celebrated monsters in the Monster Hunter universe," Ronen Gross, VP of business development at Plarium, said via press release.

"It was an incredible experience collaborating with Capcom to perfectly blend both franchises and create something that feels similar yet completely unique."

Each of the new characters offers "skills that mirror some of the abilities available to characters who equip the same weapons and armor when playing the Monster Hunter games," according to Plarium.

Monster Hunter sales figures revealed

Monster Hunter series producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, revealed in a Twitter/X post that the Monster Hunter Wilds team is "deep in development," with another announcement coming in Summer 2024 ahead of launch next year.

He also revealed that Monster Hunter World has reached 23 million sales since it launched in early 2018, while Monster Hunter Rise has reached 13 million.

Additionally, Monster Hunter Now has racked up 10 million downloads, suggesting there are plenty of players itching to get into Monster Hunter Wilds when it arrives in 2025.
