Latest Overwatch 2 Bug Is Locking Your Characters
Well, it goes without saying at this point. Overwatch 2 hasn't had it easy so far. The hero shooter's launch was met with player queue chaos, DDoS attacks that threatened the game entirely, and of course, the entitlement of Overwatch fans demanding their free game at any cost to developers.
And, as problems continue to mount faster than Blizzard can amend them, it's painting the picture of an Overwatch sequel that can't quite keep up. Now, it's really falling behind, as the latest Overwatch 2 bug is locking us out of our rosters.
Overwatch 2 Players Are Getting Their Characters Locked
Bugs seem to have wrought the Overwatch 2 characters Torbjorn and Bastion. Rather than trying to tackle the bugs while the game moves forward, Blizzard has hammered the brakes and pulled the characters from certain game modes entirely.
But, it doesn't end there. In an update, many players have been reporting that the deactivation of characters has spread to a wealth of others. It's gone so far as to box out almost half of the game's playable roster of characters for some players.
This is best seen in a tweet by user NeptunePirate, whose screenshot shows that many of the characters in the game have been made entirely inaccessibly with little padlock icons. Despite previously being available, Overwatch 2 claims they need to be unlocked "via special challenge, battle pass, or in-game shop." Not particularly helpful, really.
Fans React To Overwatch 2's Mass Character Locks
As you can imagine, Overwatch fans aren't exactly happy with the fact that the characters they want to play are legitimately inaccessible for no reason. One angry gamer raged, "I had over thousand hours in the previous overwatch, are you gonna really lock more than half of the hero's to us??? The shop is not working btw and the special challenges to unlock them whatsoever. "
Another fumed, "Overwatch 2 is such a failure it's sad, randomly lock all my heroes? Can't invite console friends? Removed bastion from the game? Step it up." On top of an already messy launch, this is bad news for Blizzard, and one that players aren't likely to forget this. It's safe to say that this probably wasn't part of the Overwatch 2 plan.
