Fortnite has more than won over the world now, it’s safe to say. It of course has its haters and those who are willing to pick apart the gameplay, but for the most part, it’s taken the gaming world by storm and has dominated the battle royale space with little competition. So, with its popularity, it’s safe to assume that those in the public eye would jump on the hype train too.

This fact does well for the game, but it certainly hasn’t done well for one football coach, who has expressed their incredible disdain for the game and its effect on professional football players.

Fortnite haters, you now have an all-star ally. Despite the game's big connection to football, the Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho isn’t a big fan of the bombastic battle royale, claiming that it’s a detriment to his players.

As part of a Q&A hosted on the AS Roma Twitter page, Jose shares his thoughts on the game. “A nightmare”, the coach begins seriously when asked his thoughts on the title. “Football players, they stay all night playing that s**t. And the next day they have a game!”

It’s safe to assume he’s not much of a player himself, especially if he sees the game as a hindrance to his players. Football and Fortnite fans alike have been sounding off in the replies about his hatred of the game’s effects, and some are unhappy.

Some fans have been responding in jest to Mourinho’s comments about how Fortnite affects his players, with some imagining some major freak-outs if his players shoot for a victory royale.

But as can be expected, some users are very much team Mourinho.

It’s good news for haters of Fortnite as it looks like they have a new celebrity member - fingers crossed this won’t keep players from securing their wins, though, either on the pitch or in-game. Maybe Mourinho's more of an Apex Legends fan.
