The Houston Outlaws have announced the signing of Danish tank player Tomas "Doge" Kongsøre. Having previously played for Overwatch Contenders teams such as Revival, Raspberry Racers and 01 esports, Doge has over three years of experience at the Path To Pro level.

With Doge, the team appears to be solving a lack of depth in the tank role which saw DPS player Dante "Danteh" Cruz switch to Doomfist for a majority of the Outlaws’ Season 5 matches. Despite the lack of depth on the role, the Outlaws is currently sitting in fourth place in the North American region at a score of 9-3.

We sat down with Doge and Outlaws Head Coach Junk for a short interview.

GGRecon: While you have played in European Contenders for several years now, as well as most recently in the Saudi eLeague, some Outlaws fans might not be familiar with you. Could you introduce yourself? Which heroes are you especially known for?

Doge: I'm a 21-year-old main tank player for Denmark. I've been playing in both EU and NA contenders for a little over 2 and a half years. My signature hero is ball, which I have invested a lot of time in improving in the last couple of years.

GGRecon: Had you previously trailed out for teams in the pre-season?

Doge: Yeah, I've trialled for a few like Florida Mayhem & Paris Eternal.

GGRecon: Did you have access to Overwatch 2 beyond the beta?

Doge: Yes, but I didn't scrim much.

GGRecon: When will you arrive at the team facility?

Doge: Since I'm a mid-season pickup & I'm situated in Europe, I will not be coming to the Outlaws facility since it wouldn't be worth it to go through the whole visa process. I will however attend the LAN tournaments ^___^

GGRecon: Will you be playing tomorrow?

Doge: No leaks, sorry.

GGRecon: How and why did you guys decide on Doge? What was the scouting process like?

Junkbuck: We tried out different main tank candidates that can fill the roles that we needed.

GGRecon: Which heroes are Doge expected to cover for the Outlaws? Will this allow Danteh to return to the DPS role?

Junkbuck: He will be filling main tank roles, and it'll also depend on how the scrims go. He fills the missing role more than just the hero. Also, Danteh has always been ready to play the DPS role depending on the meta, and he can also play tanks too.

The Outlaws will be playing against the New York Excelsior tomorrow (August 11) at 9:30pm BST / 4:30 pm EST / 1:30 pm PT.
