In a pretty surprising revelation, a shooter title inspired by Battlefield is currently dominating Steam, and it's absolutely adorable.

Not only is the art style of BattleBit Remastered incredibly sweet, it's also wonderful to see a title run by a small team of passionate developers garner the love it deserves, with the shooter action gripping players everywhere.

It's deeply wholesome, and frankly, we couldn't be happier for the team. But, as players start to get seriously invested, the devs are having to put their feet down.

BattleBit Remastered will not be getting shotguns

In a brand-new AMA on the PC Gaming subreddit, the team behind BattleBit Remastered is sharing some behind-the-scenes tidbits with fans, and it's confirmed something pretty succinctly and powerfully.

"Wonderful game!" comments one fan on the AMA post. "Been having a blast. Not sure if it has been covered, but are you wanting to add shotguns to the game at some point?" they ask.

It doesn't take long for TheLiquidHorse, a developer on the game, to offer a short, sharp response. "No shotguns," they say. Damn, well that's that, we guess.

Why is BattleBit Remastered insisting on no shotguns?

While it seems like fans haven't been given any reason for the lack of shotties in BattleBit Remastered, Prima Games has pointed out that TrueDevil, a mod in the game's Discord, has offered some insight.

"Shotguns in games have the ability to be either too powerful, or underpowered," they say. "As you mentioned, balancing is very hard on them, therefore, the Devs have decided not to add them." You only have to look at the troubled meta of something like Warzone to see it's a minefield.

It's fair enough, and we won't pretend to understand the toil that goes into balancing weapons in a game such as this, so it's a reality we're simply going to have to accept. Though with so many players calling the succinct dev a "legend" for his response, we doubt most feel like they're missing out.
