The final boss is a rite of passage for developers. At your game's close, you'd better send players along with some serious bombast. Final bosses are crucial to many titles, with the most critically acclaimed games in history ending in a climax that pits you against a baddie responsible for all of the strife you've endured.
If players are lucky, it feels about as satisfying to cut them down as everything that preceded it. It's an art to craft a boss battle that draws the entire game to a close, and for some, it's tough to master. Gamers know this, and they've decided it's time to reflect on those boss battles that simply didn't hit the mark.
Fans take to Reddit to discuss the worst final bosses

"Name the single most objectively bad final boss in a video game," asks a new post in the Gaming subreddit, and though objectivity isn't applicable here, it hasn't stopped players from airing their grievances with the bosses that took the wind out of their sails at the end of a long and often arduous adventure.
Players point out some more obscure final fights, with many upvotes being dealt to the tennis court helicopter fight (you read that right) in Rainbow Six Vegas 2, which basically amounted to a Riot Shield fest. There's also a lot of disdain for Infamous: Second Son's final boss, serving as the tutorial for a new ability that players had only just uncovered.
Others have taken aim at boss battles that are basically just quick-time events, too, with the beloved Shadow of Mordor and Dying Light catching strays. But shockingly, players aren't taking aim at an iconic terrible boss fight.
Players aren't as upset about BioShock's Fontaine anymore

Out of every comment on the Reddit thread, only one is pointing out the disappointing and supercharged big baddie of BioShock, Fontaine. The conniving villain amps himself to oblivion and becomes a glowing mass of violence in the final act of the game.
For many years, players have ragged on the grinding anti-climax - but with only one user pointing him out, maybe fans have found a way to forgive the character. Either way, it's clear that the gaming world has plenty of exhausting final bosses.
Even if the rose-tinted glasses for the BioShock series have given Fontaine an out, there's always a chance that the long-awaited BioShock 4 will deliver another clanger for the ages. At least most of us can agree that Zelda continues to churn out epic Ganondorf boss battles.
