Another one makes the switch. Former Team Envy Overwatch Head Coach Ash "Chu" Long has made the switch to Riot Games' FPS game and will hence forth be coaching Cloud9's VALORANT team. Alongside him, former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive coach James "JamezIRL" Macaulay will be joining the team as a Strategic Coach.

Chu had been considered one of the most promising coaching talents in Overwatch and was considered one of the top candidates to receive an offer from an Overwatch League team during the off-season. With consistently top tier performances with his teams under the Team Envy banner in Contenders, Chu had shown himself a valuable selector and developer of young Overwatch talent. Winning North American Contenders twice last year and placing seventh to eighth at the Gauntlet and getting several of his players into Overwatch League teams during the 2020 season, Chu has to be considered one of the most accomplished coaches in the Contenders system.

JamezIRL will merely be switching games while remaining with Cloud9. The former Counter-Strike player had joined the organisation in January. Since then, Henry "HenryG" Greer and Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović had been picked up to spear-head Cloud9's CS:GO team.

Cloud9's VALORANT  team around star player Tyson "TenZ" Ngo has consistently been one of the best teams in the North American regions, though never quite showing themselves to the best absolute best team in the region with teams like Sentinels and Team SoloMid regularly getting the better of them. The recruitment of these two experienced top coaching talents could give Cloud9 the desired push they need.
