Fans of Grand Theft Auto have been clamouring for any and all information they can find about GTA 6 and when it will be announced.

However, some fans are looking a bit further into the future and saying it is likely going to be over a decade before we see any new games in the franchise after GTA 6’s release.

The gaps between GTA game releases keep getting longer

While the first three GTA games were released on a regular schedule, the length of time between games has only been getting longer since.

There was a five year gap between GTA 4 and GTA 5, and it has been a decade since the last release.

This means it is quite likely going to be a long time before the next game comes out, and we don’t even have a release date for GTA 6 yet.

Gaming YouTuber, LegacyKillaHD, tweeted: “I think I said this in a video a while ago but we all joke that we'll never see GTA 7 or GTA 8 or future new games in this series because of the growing lengthy gaps between entries but even some Rockstar devs don't anticipate they'll ever work on another GTA game after GTA 6.”

LegacyKillaHD, known as Michael, stated that some developers he had spoken to at Rockstar said they don’t think GTA 7 will be released while they work at the company.

Long release windows don’t hinder GTA’s relevance

If it does take another 10-15 years for GTA 7 to release, that doesn’t mean it won’t still be a big hit or that GTA will become any less relevant.

Even though it has been a decade since GTA 5 was launched, it has still remained incredibly relevant, going on to become the second best-selling game of all time.

The wait for GTA 6’s official announcement has created a lot of buzz and it is likely, though not confirmed, that even more features will be included to ensure that it remains relevant until there is a new franchise instalment.
