It's a milestone moment for FlyQuest as the US team pulled off a shock win against Cloud9 and has secured its first ever place in the League of Legends World Championship. Riot Games has the attention of the entire esports scene as one of 2020's biggest events is lumbering closer.

FlyQuest knocked the smile off Cloud9's face when it beat the fan-favourite team in the League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split playoffs.

It was a 3-1 victory as FlyQuest made light work of the highly seeded Cloud9. This is just the latest chapter in Cloud9's recent run of bad luck. FlyQuest trounced the competition mainly thanks to Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrageto, who is a major MVP candidate for the latest season. Although Cloud9 came back to land a win for the second round, FlyQuest took the third and fourth with relative ease.

While FlyQuest got ahead early thanks to Lucas "Santorin" Larsen using Lillia, Cloud9 stuck with an Ezreal and Yuumi combo in all four games. It was a move that didn't pay off as FlyQuest was able to beat Cloud9 in all bar one match. Elsewhere, Colin "Solo" Earnest was a vital top laner who stuck with Shen in all four games and set up some crucial engagements.

Despite Cloud9's wavering performance, it was still expected to walk all over FlyQuest thanks to its continued dominance of North America's LCS. To say FlyQuest's win was a surprise would be an understatement. The team now heads to round 4 of the 2020 LCS Summer Playoffs, where it will play the victor of the Team Liquid versus Golden Guardians deathmatch. This will decide which team is the first to qualify for post-season finals.

Cloud9 isn't out for the count yet, and many are hoping the loser's bracket could still give the team a chance. Ultimately, we'll have to wait a little longer to see whether Cloud9 is done and dusted ahead of Worlds.

Still, there's some stiff competition in the loser's bracket as C9 joins Team SoloMid and Evil Geniuses. FlyQuest is now the second team to nab a place in Worlds - following in the footsteps of Rogue's win from Europe's League of Legends European Championship. With this being a landmark moment for FlyQuest, expect the team to be over the moon with its Worlds qualification .
