Elden Ring players have been astounded to learn that spells in the game are affected by the weather.

Elden Ring may have only been released on February 25, but the fantasy RPG has already taken the world by storm. However, with such a hefty completion time and many players still struggling with its difficulty, it's no surprise that there's still much more to be discovered about the Lands Between. For example, fans have only just learnt that one particular build in the game requires you to be naked and, despite the rumours, Elden Ring is not actually set in Ohio

Now, players have made another huge Elden Ring discovery and next time you cast a Flame Of The Fell God, you might want to have a look at the skies first.

How Does The Weather Affect Your Spells?

On March 3, Reddit user "Light_inc" took to the GamingDetails subreddit page to show off an exciting new discovery they had found in Elden Ring. Alongside a screenshot from their playthrough, Light_inc commented: "In Elden Ring your spell damage changes with the weather. If it's raining fire spells do less damage, while lightning spells do more."

To prove their discovery, Light_inc included two side-by-side screenshots in which their character is shown casting fire spells in clear weather, compared to the rain. In the sunny image, the fire spell is shown having a much more damaging effect on the enemy. Whereas, in the gloomy weather, the rain dampens the fire spell meaning the enemy doesn't take too much of the heat.

Fans React To New Elden Ring Weather Discovery

The post revealing the hidden, but nonetheless crucial detail, quickly built up attention on Reddit with many praising the level of detail from Elden Ring developer FromSoftware, especially as it is its first full-blown open-world game. Gaining 4.8k likes as of writing, fans have shared their love for the detail. However, some have also claimed that there is a similar feature in games, such as Dark Souls 2

It's still very early days for Elden Ring and there is still very much still to discover about the game as time goes on. Although many dedicated players have managed to plough through the RPG already, it's clear there are still many hidden Elden Ring secrets.
