Elden Ring's Lands Between are a compelling location.

On one hand, it's a dangerous hive of the brutal and unforgiving beasts, hell-bent on making sure you don't last to see the rest of the world for another second - but equally, it's pretty gorgeous. It needs to be, really, as it's been home to many gamers over the last few weeks as they grind through the new FromSoftware adventure without time to think about anything else.

But, if there's one thing that needs to be clarified, it's that Elden Ring doesn't in fact take place in our world, and it definitely doesn't take place in Ohio.

A meme has been doing the rounds that suggests that Elden Ring actually takes place in the American state of Ohio after the destruction of the Elden Ring presumably left it desolate.

The meme has come from an alteration made to the Elden Ring Wikipedia page, suggesting that rather than The Lands Between, "Elden Ring takes place in Ohio, sometime after the destruction of the titular Elden Ring and the scattering of its shards, the Great Runes."

But, bizarrely, Elden Ring isn't actually set in Ohio - it's rather set in the fictional Lands Between. Strange, that.

But, that hasn't kept fans from having fun with the joke on Twitter.

Regardless of how bizarre and menial the Wikipedia change has been, fans have taken the joke and ran with it, filling Twitter with gags about how desolate and brutal the landscape of Ohio is.

We're not sure what Ohio did to deserve such hate, but either way, it looks like Elden Ring can't shake it. Sorry Ohio natives, it looks like the game might not be as familiar as you might hope.
