Dr Disrespect Fuels CDL Rumours With Tweet About Player Signing
The Call of Duty League is heading into 2021 in the strongest position that fans could have hoped for, considering the whirlwind that was the Modern Warfare era. A change back to four vs four leaves a huge stack of talent on each team, Hector "OpTic Hecz" Rodriguez and Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag are back where they belong, and Treyarch is at the wheel guiding the scene along the way.
With no expansions to the league planned for this year, organisations will have to wait until 2022 to enter the league with the likes of Team Singularity and Team Heretics pushing for places should the league open to 16 teams rather than 12. One other member of the community who's looking to jump into the competitive scene is none other than the assertive Herschel "Guy" Beahm IV, a.k.a Dr Disrespect.
The Doc has been teasing an entry to the league for some time now, with his heart seemingly set on creating the San Diego Speed. With many top-calibre players missing out on pro teams this year, Dr Disrespect has already identified the one person he would "immediately" sign, and they don't get much better. Damon "Karma" Barlow.
The recently retired Karma is one of three players in Call of Duty history to have three World Championship rings to his name, putting him in an elite club alongside James "Clayster" Eubanks and Ian "Crimsix" Porter.
Having hung up his sticks mid-way through his tenure at Seattle Surge in 2020, Karma has been toying with fans by opting into various pre-season tournaments and has seriously impressed with a combination of Assualt Rifle slaying and SMG flexing.
However, the Doc has identified Karma as the first person he would sign for his CDL league team. Taking to Twitter, Beahm stated "if I had a CDL team I'd sign Karma immediately," adding a potential signing on clause typical of the streamers nature.
Most recently Karma filled in as the fourth man for Patrick "ACHES" Price, Renato "Saints" Forza, and Nicholas "Classic" DiCostanzo, in the Challengers Scouting Series, where they finished tied sixth. Despite being knocked out, Karma's in-game leadership was paramount, contributing towards the trios' positional awareness and complimented their strategies.
Whilst not as his scintillating best, Dr Disrespect could see what everyone else could too; form is temporary but class is permanent. With a team to grind with, Karma would still be one of the hottest talents on the game.
Whether the prospect of a Canadian-pimped Lambo would be enough to pry Karma out of retirement and away from his young daughter is another story though.
