Craig The Brute Easter Egg Found Lurking In Halo Infinite
Craig the Brute may not quite be dead after all, as it turns out, there's an Easter egg in the Halo Infinite campaign that alludes to the now galaxy-famous superstar. While 343 Industries has tried to banish him from our memory, a Craig the Brute Easter egg brings him back in a big way.
Although the new Halo isn't set to be here for a couple more weeks, some journalists and online entertainers have had a taster. Now, one has discovered that Craig's legacy is still very much a part of Halo Infinite. And you thought he was dead!
Who Is Craig The Brute?
For those unaware of the legend himself, here's a little history lesson for you. During the initial showing of Halo Infinite last year at an Xbox event, many fans came away quite unimpressed with the totality of what they saw. However, the one saving grace was a throwaway shot of a Brute who fans dubbed Craig.
Much of the backlash from the event was due to how unfinished all of Halo Infinite looked, with lots of poorly rendered models, low-quality environments, and a general feeling that it was undercooked. Craig was originally part of this, with the Brutes panned for looking flat and uninspired, which led to them being fully redesigned over the last year. Thankfully, frans started to see the funny side of it and Craig became a hero of sorts. Craig followed the trend of the internet just randomly snowballing things into stardom - because why not?
Since all the backlash, Halo Infinite has been delayed and much of it reportedly reworked, and despite rumours of more delays and it not working on the Xbox One, it's now closer than ever. Craig, however, fell victim to the delay and with newly designed Brutes roaming Zeta Halo, it seemed like our best digital friend wasn't going to make the cut. That is, until now, when a player discovered an Easter egg in the campaign.
What Is The Craig The Brute Easter Egg?
A YouTuber named Mint Blits found the Easter egg while roaming the game's semi-open world and climbing a tower with the new grapple hook. At the top, they discovered a sound stage and a poster reading "Craig Zeta Halo Tour" with a bunch of in-game locations listed. Nearby there's also a vinyl album, with Craig's iconic expressionless face on the front and a peculiar looking guitar.
If Craig doesn't tickle your fancy, there is a collectible skull also at the top of the tower, which long-time Halo fans will know gives modifiers that you can enable in the campaign for a fun time. This also means you'll have to reach this place at some point if you plan on achieving 100% completion of the game.
Halo Infinite is set to release soon on December 8, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and select PC storefronts. The multiplayer beta is also currently available on all the above platforms for free, so make sure to check out our Halo Infinite multiplayer tips to get the edge on the competition.
