Chilling Call of Duty: Warzone Laughter Hints At Game's Future
All you guys and ghouls are in for a scare as the month of October is finally upon us. The macabre amongst you will know Halloween is huge, and with this in mind, some of the biggest video games out there are also wanting to get in on the action. As Apex Legends teases a twist on its "Shadowfall" event, Call of Duty: Warzone is also going full creep-fest with Season 6.
There were four (yes four) new maps added as part of the supersized Season 6, while we've also been warned there's a haunted house of horror on the way thanks to the "Haunting of Verdansk" limited-time mode. Although it's confirmed for the end of the month, it looks like things are going bump in the night a little earlier than expected.
Streamer DrFunkMD69 shared a clip of him playing Warzone's Plunder mode and drew attention to the sound of a creepy girl's laughter. Reddit is also filled with clips of the same horrifying laughter, suggesting that it isn't just confined to a particular mode. By the looks of it though, a similar spot on the outskirts of the stadium is where she's currently lurking.
Creepy woods are a stereotypical horror movie trope, so who knows what's hiding out there in the trees? Others have taken to social media to share their theories, thinking the laughter belongs to Samantha Maxis - the former antagonist of Zombies. Maxis already looks like she'll be in the main Zombies storyline, so everything seems to be coming together. Elsewhere, we've been left disturbed by a giant teddy bear rearing its head in the new Station Map, proving there are a lot of tricks and treats currently going on in Warzone.
There's been a whole host of rumours that a full-blown zombie royale mode is coming to Warzone, while the latest breadcrumb trails have done nothing to alleviate those suspicions.
As well as "Haunting of Verdansk", Zombies favourite Nikolia Belinski was spotted in the first Season 6 reveal. Whether it's all to promote Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War or add even more new content to Warzone, it's clear that something spooky is afoot here. October is sure to be a big month for Warzone, and there's no escaping the fact a Zombies crossover would be huge for the battle royale bloodbath. Either way, players are ravenous to take a bite out of whatever Halloween horror Infinity Ward and Raven Software have planned.
