Fnatic's quest for Global dominance in League of Legends has been diminished, despite a last-gasp revival effort from a dismal start. As Europe's third seed, but part of the furniture on the Worlds Stage, Fnatic's efforts were dealt many blows with pre-event problems, and they return from Iceland as the team with the most underwhelming performances.

With many questions about their performances looming, having failed to recover from the absence of star Bot-laner Elias "Upset" Lipp, Gabriel "Bwipo" Rau has now taken to Twitter to defend his girlfriend after 'death threats' were sent her way as a scapegoat for Fnatic's poor play.

Fnatic crashed out with a 1-5 record, with the final nail in the coffin courtesy of Hanwha Life Esports, before PSG Talon delivered them to the airport. Following the event, Bwipo's girlfriend, "Lena", was on the receiving end of a whirlwind of abuse, according to the Jungler, as disappointed fans blame her for distracting their Belgian brawler.

Taking to Twitter, Bwipo admitted that Lena had been nothing but supportive of his efforts to win Worlds, although he recently apparently hurt her in a personal manner.

The Jungler said in a Twitlonger: "Lena is my significant other. She’s been supporting me unconditionally for 3 years. Recently, I hurt her. A month ago. I hurt her badly. It was my fault.

"In this time period, she set aside all our issues to support me. She was there every single day. Without fail, when I had an issue, she was there. When I played poorly and wasn’t confident in my skills, she gave me confidence. When I broke down, she was there to pick up the pieces. When I was happy, she made sure I stayed happy."

Despite her best efforts for Bwipo, the Jungler admitted that his own fans had threatened his girlfriend and that he regretted his silence.

He continued: "Lena received death threats from my community. From my fans. My organisation's fans. She was berated for weeks, and I stood there and let it happen. Because I let her put me first."

Bwipo himself has a rather topsy-turvy tournament, having posted one of the best kills-per-game ratios out of the Group Stage Junglers, but was also killed the most times in failed ganks and team fights.

He also admitted that he "wanted to go home", before Lena persuaded him to stick out the competition and try to overcome their starting 0-3 deficit.

Fnatic managed to come within touching distance of a second place in the group stages, beating table-toppers Royal Never Give Up at the start of a comeback climb. However, a reverse sweep against Hanwah Life saw their dreams turn to dust and their 2021 League of Legends season end.
