Die Maschine has revitalised the Call of Duty: Zombies game mode in the most engaging way we've ever seen. The remaster of the classic Nacht der Untoten has placed the franchise back into its prime, and the future is finely poised for what the developers have in store.

In a brain-starved effort to mangle their way through firewalls, one dataminer has teased what Treyarch have in store for us as the apocalypse through the Dark Aether continues. Whilst the next Zombies map has been heavily speculated upon, dataminer "Margwa" (coincidentally named after the boss Zombie in the Black Ops 4 map Shadows of Evil) has found the "Elder God" within the game files under the name "Summoner", and he looks terrifying.

The Summoner, who would appear to be the only specific zombie name within the files so far, looks set to join the cast of flesh-munchers in the new timeline of zombies and coincide with the release of a new map.

Eagle-eyed viewers will be able to spot that the Summoner appears to be a shapeshifter of sorts, akin to the Megatons who split into Bombers. Zombies or bodies can be seen morphing into the summoner, which suggests that they may not be easily killed.

The name "Summoner" is closely linked to the Dark Aether too, as the original Apothicons, known as "keepers", created a device called the "Summoning Key" to be able to manipulate the Aether and subsequently the whole story of the Call of Duty: Zombies timeline.

When the zombies will be receiving updates is yet to be known, although the Summoner appears to be a formidable foe coming to our screens in the near future.
