Zombies Leaks Suggest Where The New Map Could Be

As the latest entry in the long-running Call of Duty franchise hits its stride, Black Ops Cold War is rolling out the heavy artillery and marching forward with an impressive cavalcade of content. We've already seen the release of the Nuketown '84 map, while developers have also showcased an impressive roadmap and promised a (hopefully) seamless integration with the fan-favourite Call of Duty: Warzone. Just like any Black Ops game, a real pull for many has been Zombies

We're hungry for more brains and news on where we'll be going after "Die Maschine", and now, Cold War leaks seem to have confirmed the new Zombies map will be heading to a new locale overrun by the undead. "Die Maschine" was a spectacular way to kick-start the game's much-hyped Zombies arc, but now we've chugged our way through the levels, found the various glitches, and exfilled until our heart's content, it's time for a change of scenery.

New Zombies map: Where is it?

With criticisms that Zombies is lacking content in Cold War - especially considering its fan-favourite status - there are high hopes that the DLCs will up the action. Following the release of Black Ops Cold War Season 1 on December 10, Treyarch has promised there's another Zombies map. Now, fans think we're moving to Vietnam next. Heading back to the very first Zombies leak before Cold War even came out, it looked like we were getting three maps: "Die Maschine", "Firebase Z", and a survival version of the classic "Nacht Der Untoten".

Although we've largely forgotten about the OG leak, it's time to revisit it. According to YouTuber TheGamingRevolution, Vietnam is the next stop on the Zombies roadmap. They collated the various leaks and hints in one epic video, with all signs pointing to Vietnam. Cold War is a direct sequel to 2010's Black Ops, which famously featured the Khe Sanh Combat Base. The idea is that "Firebase Z" is a revamped version of Khe Sanh.

TheGamingRevolution highlighted how the Zombies promo showed Grigori Weaver looking at a number of computer screens and how one of them showed the Dong Hoi area of Vietnam. A specific marker looks like it's on Khe Sanh, which coupled with some new intel from the main game's "Moscow" map, cues up a visit to Vietnam. The "Moscow" intel talks about the Soviet's leading the KGB-Spetsnaz Omega Group in setting up a facility near Khe Sanh.

There's also a mention of the "first full report" coming before March, hinting that March 2021 could be when "Firebase Z" is unveiled. Even though it's a bit of a wait, it should be worth it to see the Zombies story propelled forward. Most fans will just be happy to learn we've got a new map on the way!

New Zombies map: Is it real?

As for the mysterious third map, we've already seen "Nacht Der Untoten" pop up in "Die Maschine". Posting on Twitter @The Cheese Burger Boys explained how Sledgehammer had around six months of development before Treyarch took over and powered forward. The account says completing "Die Maschine" was supposed to load into a separate version of "Nacht Der Untoten", which would explain why it's lurking in the background of the first map. It's entirely possible Treyarch will revisit this idea as a DLC.

On the surface, Zombies should just be about chugging through wave after wave of rotting corpses, but in reality, the story has evolved into having its own arc. Cold War may be lacking on the Zombies front, however, a new map can reinvigorate that. When did you last see a CoD leak that wasn't on the money? All of the above seems like it could easily happen, but until Treyarch and Activision give us the official nod, we're left gathering our own intel. If we are going to Vietnam, get ready for a very different kind of guerilla warfare. Ah, we love the smell of charred zombies in the morning.
