Things are heating up in the Cold War as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's latest leaks claim a new mode has been found hiding in the depths of Treyarch and Raven Software's upcoming shooter. Following the first game reveal a few weeks ago, things are ticking toward the highly anticipated multiplayer reveal on September 9.

The end of the first trailer gave a glimmer of Cold War's multiplayer gameplay as we saw a soldier running through rocky ravine and being flanked by enemies. Looking at the overwhelming (and continuing) popularity of Call of Duty: Warzone, it's no surprise there's a lot of hype about what Cold War can bring to the table

When a number of big Call of Duty names were invited to an exclusive sneak peek of multiplayer on September 3, one streamer accidentally went live on Twitch and unveiled the whole thing to the world. Although the footage is a little grainy, there was enough there for fans to piece together what's on the way. Despite trying to stop the spread, you can imagine this soon went viral. If you don't want to know what's coming in Cold War, we suggest you stop reading now.

There's a notable new mode called "VIP Escort" - which seems to involve one side trying to get a VIP to an extraction point while the enemy tries to take the target out. A voice was heard saying "VIP is taking fire", suggesting that it's an actual person. Given the huge number of political figures we've already seen in the trailers, picture the scene of trying to get Ronald Reagan to safety.

Elsewhere, the Cold War gameplay leak screenshots confirmed it’s a round-based mode that looks similar to "Search and Destroy". There's a tracker on the HUD that shows how many players each team has left. Although it starts as 6v6, "VIP Escort" can end as a 1v1 as the home side tries to get the VIP to the extraction point. When it comes to the locale, it looks like it's being played on the rumoured Miami map during a nighttime setting. There's no denying it looks pretty cool with its neon backdrop.

It's interesting to note that "VIP Escort" seems to be a reimagined version of the "VIP" mode that was cut from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The 2009 title made a lot of noise about the mode but axed it before release. Activision has vowed to wage its own Cold War against leakers and strip any unofficial footage down before it spreads. Still, if you want to see the multiplayer Cold War gameplay leak, it's available (at the time of writing) here.

There are only a few days until the official multiplayer reveal, so there isn't long to wait until we find out what's really going on behind the closed doors of Activision.
