It is much, much too easy to get swept up in the marketing frenzy that is the computing peripheral world.

Everyone seems to have cornered the market and will offer an experience unlike no other, only for their keyboard, mouse, trackpad or audio system to come off just like everyone else's. Except there's one company with a pretty solid track record regarding productivity tools for getting work done.

Logitech has a pretty solid back catalogue of producing reliable peripherals for computing, whether you're a gamer or simply looking for something to keep you comfortable in the office, they've got most bases covered, racking up a pretty good name for themselves all the while.

And now, though their professional peak may have been widely considered to be their MX Master mouse, offering sleek and simple productivity changes that just make sense, it's clear that they don't feel their time is up yet - and the new MX Keys S Combo proves it in practically every corner.

GGRecon Verdict

£200 is a lot to drop on a mouse and keyboard, especially if you've already got a set that works - but if you're willing to invest in hopes of amplifying your output over the next few years, then the MX Keys S pack is truly one of the best ways to go.

The MX Keys S Combo is all you'll ever need

It's certainly bold to say, but it truly feels like the newest combo pack from Logitech, the MX Keys S Combo covers all bases. Featuring the MX Keys S, the MX Master 3S and an exclusive wrist rest, it seems as though Logitech has packaged up its sleekest creations in one easy-to-process box that offers users everything they'll ever need when it comes to their baseline peripherals.

For those who have been using (and, naturally, singing the praises of) Logitech's MX Master line of mice, the 3S will be familiar - it still packs its gesture system, side buttons and a horizontal scroll wheel, but in a much more streamlined fashion.

The wheel protrudes just enough to feel more accessible than its predecessors, and its gestures are designed to feel less like a button press, and more like a simple movement that has been built into computer mice since they were first developed.

Now, the feel of the MX is more smooth than ever, with DPI problems being practically non-existent regardless of the surface you're using it on, as well as each button click being satisfying even in spite of its quietness.

It's a great mouse alone, as many will attest when it comes to the MX Master series - but packaged with the keyboard itself, it feels like much more than that.

The MX Keys S pack a game-changing feature

The MX Keys are typically loved anyway, with comfortably shaped and perfectly raised keys, a long battery life, and immensely convenient connectivity options. But, the S version packs a brand new feature that I fear I could never do without again - Smart Actions.

The new feature is designed predominantly for coders, allowing users to program their own long-winded keyboard inputs into a simple button-press of a keyboard shortcut that a user might feel they don't necessarily need - but as a writer alone, it has been indispensable.

Preparing copy for articles has been a frustration due to having to manually alter different forms of apostrophes and quotation marks, but with the smart function I have created to do it for me, I've been able to shrink a monotonous task to a mere button press with only a few minutes of programming. This comes along with the expected comfort of the keyboard itself, making typing for long periods of time a thing of ease, especially when combined with the pack's wrist rest.

The Verdict

Using a Logitech K380 and original MX Master before the arrival of the MX Keys S pack, I was comfortable enough - but I couldn't go back now. Even discounting the hugely useful Smart Actions, the combination of comfort and ease that comes with both this keyboard and mouse is simply too infectious to be without in an office setting.

Of course, there is the price of the product to contend with, which may be the only real downside of the product. £200 is a lot to drop on a mouse and keyboard, especially if you've already got a set that works - but if you're willing to invest in hopes of amplifying your output over the next few years, then the MX Keys S pack is truly one of the best ways to go.
