With Street Fighter 6 finally in the hands of excited players worldwide, it is important to know whom you will be playing as and against if you’re going to get ahead.
One of the most recognisable faces in Street Fighter (if not also in gaming) is the iconic Ryu, who is making his triumphant return in Street Fighter 6.

Who is Ryu in Street Fighter 6 lore?

Ryu has been the poster boy for the Street Fighter series since the first game’s release in 1987. He has been a series mainstay ever since and was even added to the Super Smash Bros. roster, cementing his legacy as a fighting game tour-de-force.
In the case of Street Fighter 6, Ryu is at his peak. A master fighter travelling the world in search of worthy opponents. This is in keeping with his meticulous training and intense focus on becoming the greatest fighter of all time in previous entries.

Ryu’s move set is probably the most familiar to veterans of the series, with his Hadoken being one of, if not the most recognisable move. Here, we’ll be breaking down some of the more complicated combos Ryu has to offer, including his Special Moves, Super Arts and Unique Attacks.

How to play Ryu in Street Fighter 6

In Street Fighter 6, Ryu is a jack-of-all-trades, with a mix of close-quarters combat and ranged abilities that are difficult for opponents to avoid. He is the most consistent character to get to grips with from the start.
While the ranged attacks are great for chipping away at opponents, his melee combos are a force to be reckoned with, so committing them to memory (or, of course, having his combo list to hand) is essential.
