At this point in the game, you'll have discovered the lake area and will have unlocked the Mural Cave, containing the crest to open the church.
As you unlock the church you'll notice a locked grate to the left side of the altar, this is where you need to go to progress the story and finally meet Ashley.
To unlock the door, you'll need to align the glass mural at the centre of the church and form the church insignia, an icon seen throughout the game. The insignia will look like a dragonfly.
The glass is made up of three different coloured sections that you'll need to rotate with dials.
To uncover the dials, pull the lever to the left of the altar. Once exposed, you'll notice a green and red dial, with a space for a missing dial to the left of them.

You'll need to locate the missing blue dial before completing the puzzle.
The blue dial is located in a cabinet to the right side of the entryway, down a narrow corridor. Open the cabinet and collect the dial, reunite it with the other two dials at the altar to proceed.

Once you have located and placed the missing blue dial on the altar, you must now rotate each dial to form a dragonfly on the glass mural above.
You can use the picture above as a guide for where each dial should be positioned. The trick is to move the green dial so that the head of the dragonfly is outlined, you can see the head as it will have a sharp triangle structure, which you can use as a guide to move the glass.

The red glass is easier to place if you concentrate on filling the void underneath the dragonfly's right wing with red glass.
Lastly, rotate the blue until it fills the missing gaps.
Once connected, you'll know you have the correct form as the grate will lift, leaving the staircase and upper landing of the church free to explore.
